THANK YOU for showing your support of the Siskiyou Ice Rink by skating, playing hockey and through your generous donations given during our 6-week 2012-2013 season. The love & joy of skating is still felt thanks to all who visited! We are grateful and appreciate everyone who made it possible for us to open the rink for a short season.
Friends Of the Rink (FOR) is a tax deductible non-profit, whose primary purpose is to provide the Siskiyou Ice Rink with funding, secondarily with operational support. It took many volunteer hours to get the rink open this year. Without FOR’s efforts, co-joined by a wide-ranging geographic community of enthusiastic rink supporters, the rink would have remained closed.
Thanks to Mount Shasta Recreation and Parks Department for giving FOR the go-ahead and for supporting FOR’s efforts. Thanks also to our business and organization supporters Mount Shasta Rotary (Cheap Skate Fundraising Night sponsor), Mount Shasta Elks Clubs (Free Skate Night sponsor), North State Parent, Mt. Shasta Herald, Berryvale Grocery, Mount Shasta Mighty Rollers, and to each individual who donated – we were deeply touched by your generosity.
Friends of the Rink raises funds for the rink year-round. To offer a longer skating season in the coming season we need community help & support. Our most pressing need is to pay the power bill each season, $12-$15,000 the typical cost range currently for a 6-week season. If you would like to enjoy a longer season, please consider donating – any amount is welcome. Our fundraising needs include solar power, new rental skates (badly needed), a new or refurbished Zamboni (grooms the ice), and an open-air roof to keep the weather off and to be able to schedule on-ice workshops with guest instructors and performers, and to be able to offer even more fun and exciting events for all ages. Your help is appreciated and valued by many, near and far!
